Traditional rulers in Ibarapaland have endorsed Oyo Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin for the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State
The Ibarapaland Traditional Council has endorsed the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, for the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State.

The endorsement was made on Wednesday during a meeting of monarchs from all seven towns in the Ibarapa zone held in Eruwa.
The royal fathers collectively expressed confidence in Ogundoyin’s leadership capacity, political experience, and governance track record.
Leading the delegation was the Eleruwa of Eruwa, HRM Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola, Akobo Olurin I.
Other monarchs present included the Olu of Igboora, HRM Oba Jimoh Titiloye Ayinla; Onidere of Idere, HRM Oba Rev. Kingsley Aderoju Onikola; Asigangan of Iganga, HRM Oba AbdulRafiu Adeniyi Olaniyi; Asawo of Ayete, HRM Oba Emmanuel Ewuola Okeniyi; Onilala of Lanlate, HRM Oba Sunday Bolawaye Oladeji; Elempe of Tapa, HRM Oba Titilayo Sunday Owolabi; and Oluaso of Iberekodo, HRM Oba Jamiu Badmus Adedamola.
The monarchs described Ogundoyin as a worthy son of Ibarapaland whose political journey reflects resilience, competence, and strong governance experience.
They noted his three consecutive electoral victories, his two-time emergence as Speaker, and his role as immediate past Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria.
According to them, his aspiration presents a historic opportunity for Ibarapaland to produce a governor in Oyo State.
The royal fathers also pledged to mobilise support across the zone and among indigenes in the diaspora ahead of the 2027 election.
Earlier, Ogundoyin formally informed the monarchs of his intention to contest the governorship seat, seeking their endorsement and blessings.
He acknowledged the importance of traditional institutions in shaping political direction and strengthening community support.

The meeting was also attended by key political stakeholders and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders, including Hon. Ademola Ojo, Alhaji Aborode Majekodunmi, Hon. Yemi Taiwo, Hon. Funmilayo Orisadeyi, Hon. John Adeleke, Hon. Dimeji Ladapo, and Prince Wole Opadeye.
