Amaechi Urges ADC to Pick Strong Candidate, Blasts Tinubu Over Insecurity Concerns

Rotimi Amaechi urges ADC to choose a strong candidate and criticises President Tinubu over insecurity and governance issues at party convention

Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Transportation, has urged the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to urgently select a credible presidential candidate, insisting that President Bola Tinubu will not voluntarily relinquish power.

Amaechi made the statement on Tuesday during the ADC national convention held in Abuja, where party leaders gathered to review the party’s future political direction.

He criticised the current administration over rising insecurity across the country, citing killings, kidnappings, and widespread displacement of citizens.

The former minister called on ADC leaders to unite and position themselves as a strong opposition force capable of challenging the ruling government in future elections.

Amaechi stated that the ADC must decide on a viable candidate if it hopes to remain competitive, warning that political power would not be handed over easily.

He also questioned what he described as restrictions on democratic freedoms, arguing that citizens have a constitutional right to assemble without interference.

Amaechi further accused government officials of prioritising personal gain over governance, making strong remarks about corruption within the system.
