John Odigie-Oyegun made the remarks while addressing delegates at the ADC national convention, where party leaders gathered to deliberate on internal reforms and future electoral strategies.
The former Edo State governor stated that the ADC was prepared for a decisive political contest, insisting that the 2027 election would not be “business as usual” and that the party was determined to take over Aso Rock.
Oyegun stressed that Nigeria’s vast natural endowments contrast sharply with the hardship faced by citizens, describing the situation as a consequence of prolonged leadership failure over the years.
In a passionate address, he said Nigeria’s position as the largest Black nation in the world should have translated into prosperity, but lamented that mismanagement had undermined that potential.
The former APC chairman added that the ADC leadership represents what he called a renewed sense of hope, noting that the party was prepared to embark on a national rescue mission aimed at resetting governance priorities.
He further emphasised that accountability would be central to any future ADC administration, stating that public officials must be held responsible for their actions without exception.
According to him, performance in office must attract either reward or consequence, describing this principle as essential for restoring trust in public service and strengthening national development.
