Aregbesola Slams APC Over “Scandalous” Renewed Hope Agenda

Aregbesola APC Renewed Hope Attack as ADC leader calls Tinubu’s policy a “classic scam” amid hardship and rising insecurity

National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, on Tuesday launched a blistering attack on the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government, describing its Renewed Hope Agenda as a “classic scam” during the party’s national convention in Abuja.

Rauf Aregbesola, a former Minister of Interior and former Osun State governor, also called on President Bola Tinubu to consider resignation, citing worsening insecurity, economic hardship, and declining living standards across the country.

Aregbesola Criticises APC Renewed Hope Plan came as he accused the ruling party of mismanaging the economy and failing to fulfil key campaign promises made to Nigerians.

He argued that the depreciation of the naira, rising fuel costs, and persistent inflation have placed unbearable pressure on citizens since 2023.

“When exactly will this hope come to fruition? The answer is simple. It is a scam,” Aregbesola declared, adding that the administration had continued to make promises without tangible results.

He further criticised the state of electricity supply, alleging that many parts of the country now experience prolonged blackouts and extremely limited daily power supply, which he described as evidence of systemic failure.

Aregbesola also accused the APC-led government of weakening democratic processes and normalising what he termed “criminality” within the electoral system.

On security, he warned that escalating violent attacks across the country reflect deep leadership challenges and growing national instability.

The former minister said the administration itself had once promised Nigerians reliable electricity supply, but insisted that conditions had worsened significantly since then.

He argued that an administration unable to deliver on its core promises should step aside rather than seek re-election.

Positioning the ADC as a credible alternative, Aregbesola said the party was on a “rescue mission” to restore hope and rebuild national institutions.

He urged Nigerians to actively engage in the political process, warning that indifference could worsen the country’s current challenges.

The remarks have added further intensity to ongoing political tensions between the opposition ADC and the ruling APC as Nigeria inches closer to the 2027 election cycle.
