The women also threw their support behind Governor Dapo Abiodun’s senatorial ambition for Ogun East Senatorial District.

The endorsement came during the 2026 International Women’s Day (IWD) celebration organised by the Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development at the Royal Pavilion, Ijebu-Ode.

Female political officeholders from across the state’s 20 Local Government Areas attended the event.

Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele praised the Tinubu and Abiodun administrations for policies that improved women’s social inclusion, economic participation, and access to opportunities.

“We pledge our unflinching support as they move on to the next level,” she said.

Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye, highlighted women’s contributions to Ogun’s growth over the past 50 years and urged women to convert their population strength into effective political participation.

She announced empowerment grants for 550 women, ranging from N50,000 to N200,000.

Guest speaker, Senator Abiodun Olujimi, stressed that women’s current two per cent political participation represents a national crisis.

She called for dismantling systemic barriers and encouraged women to support credible leaders, citing Tinubu and Abiodun as examples of inclusive governance.
