Tinubu aide Ogra blasts Dino Melaye over ADC remarks

Otega Ogra criticises Dino Melaye over ADC convention remarks, calling him “loud and empty” while defending Tinubu’s leadership approach

President Bola Tinubu’s aide, O’tega Ogra, on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, in Abuja, launched a strong verbal attack on former Senator Dino Melaye following comments made at the African Democratic Congress convention, describing the remarks as “loud, empty, and predictable.”

The criticism came in a post shared on X, where the presidential aide dismissed Melaye’s intervention as part of what he called a “politics of mockery over substance.”

Ogra contrasted Melaye’s political style with what he described as President Bola Tinubu’s disciplined and results-driven leadership approach.

He argued that Melaye misunderstood the constitutional processes that follow elections, including briefings, document transfers, and intelligence handovers, which he said are essential for stable governance transitions.

Ogra further accused the former senator of relying on theatrics rather than meaningful political engagement, claiming he often confuses performance with policy.

He referenced past political exchanges, alleging that Melaye previously reduced serious political discourse into slogans and public ridicule during election campaigns.

The presidential aide also highlighted Melaye’s electoral history, stating that his political career had been marked by repeated defeats and legal setbacks.

He cited the nullification of Melaye’s 2019 Kogi West senatorial victory by the Court of Appeal over alleged electoral irregularities, as well as subsequent losses in rerun elections and governorship contests.

Ogra concluded by contrasting Melaye’s record with Tinubu’s political trajectory, noting that the President remains in office despite past electoral challenges.
