The move comes as Vice President Kashim Shettima expressed deep condolences to the government and people of Borno, describing the Friday night attack by Boko Haram insurgents as a national tragedy.

According to a statement by VP Shettima’s spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, President Bola Tinubu has ordered the armed forces to revise their operational strategies, particularly in areas plagued by persistent terrorist activity.

“The directive includes the deployment of advanced military hardware and surveillance drones to eliminate terrorist groups across the country,” the statement said.

This comes as part of a broader effort to reassert federal control in troubled regions and improve national security.

The attack in Bama Local Government Area left scores dead, including both civilians and soldiers.

Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum visited the affected community over the weekend to console families and assess the damage.

“These deaths have left the entire nation in collective grief, but we are confident that justice will be served for the bereaved families.”

He reaffirmed the administration’s confidence in the armed forces’ ability to contain insurgency in the North East and other regions.

Shettima also highlighted the federal government’s growing interest in state police structures, echoing President Tinubu’s position that certain regions require security forces that understand local terrain, culture, and can effectively collaborate at the grassroots level.
