PDP Blasts Tinubu Over Terrorism Ranking Report

PDP attacks Tinubu terrorism ranking after Global Terrorism Index places Nigeria fourth, accusing government of failing on national security

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Wednesday, March 19, 2026, in Abuja, Nigeria, strongly criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration following the release of the Global Terrorism Index 2026, which ranked Nigeria fourth globally in the impact of terrorism, in remarks that intensified political tension over national security under the theme of PDP attacks Tinubu terrorism ranking.

In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the PDP alleged that while Nigerians continue to face rising insecurity, government officials are prioritising political engagements abroad instead of addressing the country’s worsening security situation.

The opposition party described the situation as deeply troubling, arguing that the latest report only confirmed what many Nigerians already experience daily.

The Global Terrorism Index report indicated that Nigeria, alongside several other countries, accounted for a significant proportion of global terrorism-related deaths, underscoring persistent security challenges in the country.

Reacting to the development, the PDP accused the federal government of failing in its primary constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and property, claiming that insecurity has worsened under the current administration.

The party further alleged that the business of insecurity has become highly profitable, describing it as a “trillion-naira economy” that continues to thrive despite ongoing government interventions.

According to the statement, citizens are increasingly frustrated by what it described as government inaction in the face of repeated killings and abductions across different parts of the country.

The PDP called for urgent and comprehensive reforms in Nigeria’s security architecture, urging the federal government to adopt a more proactive and inclusive approach to tackling terrorism and violent crime.

It stressed that national security must be treated as a top priority, warning that continued failures in this area could further erode public confidence in the administration.

The party also insisted that Nigerians are demanding immediate and decisive action to restore safety and stability across affected regions.
