Tinubu mourns Amaechi’s mother, Dame Ezinne Amaechi, praising her life of faith, humility and service after her death at 89
President Bola Tinubu has expressed sadness over the death of Dame Ezinne Amaechi, mother of former Rivers State Governor and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.

Tinubu mourns Amaechi’s mother following her death at the age of 89, describing the late matriarch as a woman whose life reflected faith, sacrifice and dedication to family and society.
In a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President said Dame Amaechi lived a life defined by strong values and commitment to service.
Tinubu said the deceased was deeply devoted to the Catholic faith and played an important role in raising children who contributed to public service.
According to the President, Dame Amaechi’s life demonstrated virtues of kindness, perseverance and humility, qualities that earned her respect among those who knew her.
“My heartfelt condolences to Rt. Hon. Amaechi, the entire Amaechi family, the Catholic faithful, and the government and people of Rivers State over the loss of Dame Ezinne Amaechi, a champion of faith whose life was marked by humility and selfless service to humanity,” Tinubu said.
He prayed for the repose of her soul and offered comfort to the bereaved family during their period of mourning.
“May Almighty God grant her soul eternal rest and comfort all who mourn her passing at this difficult time,” the President added.
Tinubu urged the Amaechi family to draw strength from the legacy Dame Ezinne Amaechi left behind, highlighting her contributions to her family, the Church and the wider community.

The President’s condolence message adds to tributes from public figures and political leaders following the death of the mother of the former Rivers State governor.
