APGA endorses Tinubu for 2027, with chairman Sylvester Ezeokenwa citing party policy and belief in the President’s reforms
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has explained its decision to endorse President Bola Tinubu as its preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election, citing a long-standing party policy and confidence in the President’s reform agenda.

APGA National Chairman, Sylvester Ezeokenwa, said the endorsement was driven by both political consistency and the party’s conviction that Tinubu’s administration is moving the country in the right direction.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Morning Show on Friday, Ezeokenwa said the decision was not sudden but followed a policy direction the party had maintained for several years.
“There are a lot of thinking that went into that policy. Like I always say, it is a policy, or it is a decision that was fuelled by both policy and conviction,” Ezeokenwa said.
He explained that APGA’s decision was connected to a political approach adopted by the party more than a decade ago when it supported the presidential ambition of former President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of the 2011 election.
“Policy in the sense that this is what was started some years ago, precisely in 2010-2011, when the party deemed it fit at that point to adopt the presidential candidacy of the then President Goodluck Jonathan,” he said.
According to the APGA chairman, the party has remained committed to that approach and did not abandon the principle behind its previous endorsements.
“The party has not steered away from that particular policy. That policy is still intact,” he added.
APGA endorses Tinubu for 2027 after the party said it was convinced that the President’s policies and reforms aligned with its progressive values and national development objectives.
Ezeokenwa said the party’s support was also influenced by what he described as the administration’s reform efforts, which he believes correspond with APGA’s vision.
“Then, the next one is conviction, in the sense that the party believes that the President is steering the country in the right direction,” he said.
“Given the needed reforms that the President has orchestrated, which probably aligns with the progressive agenda of APGA, it is in the best interest of the party for the party to adopt the candidacy of President Bola Tinubu.”
APGA announced its endorsement of Tinubu on Wednesday, making the party one of the political groups that have declared support for the President ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement is expected to shape political discussions as parties begin realigning ahead of the presidential contest, although other parties and opposition groups are also expected to announce their preferred candidates and strategies.
