Tacha accountability message urges Nigerians to demand action from governors, senators, and LG chairmen, not just blame President Tinubu for all issues

In a video posted on Monday, Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, criticised the tendency of citizens to ignore the failures of governors, senators, and local government chairmen, even as they receive substantial funding from the federal government.
She referenced the recent ₦2.2 trillion disbursed by the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) to federal, state, and local governments, highlighting that ₦44 billion was allocated to a single local government area.
“₦44 billion, I didn’t say million—₦44 billion has been disbursed to a local government chairman,” she said.
“Watch how they’ll do absolutely nothing with it, because Nigerians will come out and drag Tinubu instead.”
According to Tacha, the public’s anger is often misdirected, especially when most Nigerians are unaware of who represents them at local levels.
“Money has been given to your state governors, to your local government chairmen, your House of Reps members, your senators.
Hold them by their neck, let them deliver,” she insisted.
The Tacha accountability message gained wide attention as she drew comparisons between Lagos and underperforming states, arguing that some of the most dysfunctional governance exists at the grassroots—where little to no scrutiny is applied.
“It be like say only two people Nigerians like to drag.
Every Nigerian has believed their problem is Tinubu,” she noted, pointing out that many citizens couldn’t even name their local council heads.
Tacha urged Nigerians to adopt a broader approach to holding leaders accountable by “dragging everybody in power” rather than focusing on one office.

The viral video comes on the heels of FAAC’s record-high ₦2.2 trillion allocation in August 2025—raising renewed questions about how effectively such resources are being managed at the state and local levels.
