Uba Sani says the North still backs Tinubu and predicts 70–80% in Kaduna in 2027, dismissing social media opposition claims.
Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani told Channels Television that President Bola Tinubu still holds the North and could win 70 to 80 per cent of votes cast in Kaduna in the 2027 presidential election.

Mr Sani dismissed talk of a northern turn against the President as a story fed by social media rather than by voters on the ground.
He said people in Kaduna and across the region would judge Mr Tinubu on performance, policy and daily life, not on online argument.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will move from 29 per cent of votes to 70 to 80 per cent,” Mr Sani said.
The 29 per cent line points back to 2023, when former Vice President Atiku Abubakar beat Mr Tinubu in Kaduna.
Official figures gave Mr Abubakar 554,360 votes in the state and Mr Tinubu 399,293.
Mr Sani said that map had already shifted. Opposition figures have crossed into the All Progressives Congress, he argued, especially in parts of southern Kaduna.
He listed federal projects as further ballast: the Federal University of Science and Technology in southern Kaduna and work on a federal medical centre.
He framed his own politics as loyalty to the party, not to old personal wars. “I don’t do politics of sentiments. I respect Nasir El-Rufai, I respect Makarfi, I respect Namadi Sambo. They have all done their best, but I am here to fight for APC,” he said.
Mr Sani also warned voters not to swallow campaign pledges that come without a funding plan.
Television studios and social media, he said, do not win a presidential race. “You don’t contest with the President by campaigning in Abuja.” Elections, in his account, are won at ward level.
He predicted a strong Tinubu showing across the Northwest, Northeast and North-Central if the APC can explain its record and stay close to voters.
The forecast is a partisan one. Kaduna did not back Mr Tinubu in 2023, and no independent poll in this report tests the jump to 70 or 80 per cent.

What Mr Sani offered was a governor’s reading: the North still backs Tinubu, the noise is online, and 2027 will be decided in the wards, not on air.
