According to a statement released Sunday by the Guild’s President, Eze Anaba, and General Secretary, Onuoha Ukeh, the 2025 All Nigeria Editors Conference (ANEC) will focus on the theme: “Democratic Governance and National Cohesion: The Role of Editors.”

President Bola Tinubu is expected to declare the conference open, with other key figures such as the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, and the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, in attendance.

Leaders of political parties, diplomats, governors, and private sector stakeholders will also grace the occasion.

The event will spotlight the sub-theme: “Electoral Integrity and Trust Deficit: What Nigerians Expect in 2027,” reflecting widespread concern over public confidence in Nigeria’s democratic institutions ahead of the next general elections.

The Nigerian Guild of Editors conference aims to explore how editors can bridge divisions in an increasingly polarised country.

The Guild stated that the role of the media is now more vital than ever in reinforcing shared values, fostering inclusion, and advancing democratic ideals.

A series of power-packed sessions will tackle topics such as judicial credibility in election disputes, economic and political reform, media misinformation, AI disruption, and the future of journalism beyond newsroom boundaries.

More than 500 media professionals, including international participants, are expected at this year’s gathering – the second time Abuja will host the conference in 12 years.

Organisers say the conference is designed not just as a networking event but as a space for deep reflection on national unity, transparency, and the changing role of journalism in holding leadership accountable.

This year’s edition follows closely on the heels of the Guild’s Biennial Convention in Enugu, where new executives were elected, further setting the tone for a reinvigorated media community prepared to shape Nigeria’s democratic journey.
