Seriake Dickson meets Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso in Abuja to finalise NDC plans before the 2027 campaign council launch
Nigeria Democratic Congress national leader Seriake Dickson met the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and running mate Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in Abuja on Thursday, 27 August 2026, as the party prepares to unveil its campaign council for the 2027 general election.

Mr Dickson, a former governor of Bayelsa State, said on his verified X account that the talks continued consultations on the party and on the country.
National Chairman and other NDC leaders also sat in. The same group had met two days earlier.
“Today, I met with our party’s presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, and the running mate, Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, alongside the National Chairman and other party leaders. We met two days ago, and we met again Today to further deliberate and finalise decisions, particularly as we prepare for the unveiling of our party’s Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections,” he wrote.
He asked stakeholders, aspirants and members to close ranks and work for NDC candidates from the presidency down to local contests.
The post did not name the campaign council or set a public date for its launch. No joint communiqué from Mr Obi or Mr Kwankwaso was attached.
What the meeting signals is coordination at the top of a new opposition ticket, and a push for unity before the campaign structure is shown to the country.
Whether that unity holds once council seats are shared will be the next test.

For now, Dickson meets Obi and Kwankwaso on the record, twice in three days, with 2027 as the stated purpose.
