In a public letter signed by community figure Mr. Barnabas Musa and parents’ representative Comrade Raphael Joshua, the residents expressed deep gratitude to the governor for intervening when treatment for several injured children was abruptly halted at Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital due to unpaid bills.
The letter, dated 22 September 2025, described the Governor Uba Sani medical bills gesture as a “compassionate and timely lifeline” that prevented further tragedy.
The confirmation of the full settlement was received on Sunday through Hon. Bashir Tanko Dawaki, Chairman of Kauru Local Government Area.
“This swift response has brought renewed hope and comfort to our distressed community,” the letter stated, adding that the move has restored public trust in the government’s commitment to citizen welfare.
The community also praised the Commissioner for Health, Hajiya Umma Ahmad, for her professionalism and thanked Hon. Dawaki for delivering the governor’s directive “with empathy and resolve.”
Governor Sani’s action followed a desperate appeal from the community after gunmen attacked Angwan Rimi village on 15 September, killing two and leaving several children critically injured.
The victims’ treatment was reportedly suspended after families could not afford the growing hospital expenses.
Thanks to the Governor Uba Sani medical bills intervention, treatment resumed promptly, and critical care continued uninterrupted.
Residents now describe his leadership as “people-first” and “deeply responsive.”
The community concluded its letter with prayers for the governor’s continued success in building a safer and more inclusive Kaduna State.
