The incident occurred on Saturday night in Tudun Amba, Lafia, as the victim was reportedly about to enter his home.
Witnesses said heavily armed men fired shots into the air before forcibly whisking him away.
Peter Ahemba, Senior Special Adviser on Public Affairs to the governor, confirmed the development while speaking to journalists on Sunday. He described the abduction as “sad and unfortunate,” calling for swift action by security agencies.
This Nasarawa governor aide kidnapping comes just two months after a similar incident involving the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Culture, Barrister Yusuf Musa, who was abducted in the Ungwan Nungu area of Lafia.
While no group has claimed responsibility, the incident adds to a growing wave of violent crime and targeted kidnappings that have plagued parts of Nasarawa and neighbouring states in recent months.
Authorities are yet to disclose whether any ransom demand has been made, but local sources say a manhunt is underway, with combined forces of police and vigilantes combing the area for leads.
Residents of Tudun Amba expressed fear and frustration, calling on the state government to intensify efforts to secure the community and protect government officials from further attacks.
