SDP North-West zonal congress election sees Hon. Salihu Suleiman emerge unopposed as vice chairman in a peaceful Kaduna congress
The Social Democratic Party, Social Democratic Party (Nigeria), on Monday concluded its North-West Zonal Congress in Kaduna State, where Hon. Salihu Suleiman of Kaduna State emerged as National Vice Chairman for the zone in a peaceful and unopposed election process.

The zonal meeting congress election was held at the party’s state secretariat and supervised by the electoral committee led by Adamu Idris and Titus Madaki.
In a statement issued at the end of the exercise, the committee confirmed that all candidates who contested for various positions were returned unopposed.
Addressing delegates at the congress, electoral committee chairman Adamu Idris urged the newly elected officials to prioritise inclusiveness in party administration.
He emphasised the importance of internal unity and stronger democratic structures to ensure the party remains cohesive and competitive ahead of future elections.
The congress was described as orderly and transparent, with party stakeholders expressing optimism about renewed organisational strength within the zone.
Observers noted that the absence of contestation across positions reflected a consensus-driven approach to leadership selection.
In his acceptance remarks, Hon. Salihu Suleiman pledged to strengthen the party under his leadership and promote a more robust opposition structure across the North-West region.
He stated that efforts would focus on improving electoral performance and expanding the party’s influence ahead of future polls.
Other officials elected during the congress include Rilwanu Jamo of Katsina State as Zonal Secretary, Hassan Gidan Laka of Sokoto State as Zonal Treasurer, and Comrade Musa Lawan as Zonal Publicity Secretary.
Comrade Inuwa Idris of Kaduna State was elected Zonal Financial Secretary.
Additional appointments include Bishop Alex Baidi as Zonal Organising Secretary, Dr Aminu Sagagi as Welfare Secretary, Garba Namodori as Auditor, Ummi Kabir as Women Leader, and Murtala Jangebe as Youth Leader.

The outcome marks a significant organisational reshuffle within the party’s North-West structure, with leaders expressing confidence that the new team will drive renewed political momentum.
