Sam Nkire urges Tinubu to reconcile with Kwankwaso as part of APC’s 2027 strategy, highlighting the political strength of northern alliances

Nkire, a senior member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Caucus, made this call in a statement on Monday, stressing that a strategic alliance between the ruling APC and Kwankwaso’s NNPP could significantly boost President Bola Tinubu’s chances at the polls.
He described political reconciliation as a powerful tool that could reshape Nigeria’s electoral dynamics, particularly in the north where Kwankwaso continues to wield considerable influence.
“Bringing the parties together will not only bridge political divides but also strengthen the president’s electoral base,” Nkire stated, urging the APC to approach the matter with sincerity and open dialogue.
Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State and a one-time member of the APC, is seen as a formidable political force in northern Nigeria.
His growing support in the region has triggered increased speculation about future realignments as the 2027 elections draw nearer.
While no official talks between the APC and NNPP have been confirmed, Nkire’s remarks have added to public expectations that backchannel negotiations or high-level overtures might soon begin.
Observers say the potential return of Kwankwaso to the APC could have far-reaching implications, especially considering past rivalries and the shifting loyalties that often define Nigerian political landscapes.
As party coalitions begin to take shape in preparation for 2027, Nkire’s appeal underscores the importance of unity within the ruling party and its need to build broader national support.

Whether this suggestion gains momentum or remains speculative will likely depend on Tinubu’s political calculus in the months ahead.
