Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has sought the approval of the State House of Assembly for the reappointment of three commissioners who served in his first-term administration and the appointment of 10 Special Advisers.
The request was contained in a letter addressed to the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, on Monday, barely 10 days after the governor’s inauguration for a second term.
The commissioners nominated for reappointment are Dayo Apata (SAN) as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice; Akintunde Oyebode as Commissioner for Finance; and Dr Oyebanji Filani as Commissioner for Health and Human Services.
According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Olayinka Oyebode, the early request reflects Oyebanji’s intention to constitute key components of his administration promptly and ensure continuity in critical sectors.
The government noted that the justice, finance and health portfolios are crucial to the effective take-off of the new administration, particularly in view of prevailing national developments.
The governor also requested the Assembly’s approval for 10 Special Advisers to assist in the day-to-day running of the state.
The move is part of efforts to strengthen service delivery and maintain momentum as Oyebanji begins his second term in office.
