The committee’s chairman, Charles Aniagwu, stated this on Monday during a media briefing in Asaba, the Delta State capital, where he urged political leaders to avoid inflammatory statements and focus on presenting their programmes to the electorate.
Aniagwu’s comments followed a reported warning by former Deputy Senate President and Nigeria Democratic Congress senatorial candidate for Delta Central, Ovie Omo-Agege, against attempts to rig the forthcoming elections.
“Electoral violence and threats to kill people are not part of our campaign strategy,” Aniagwu said.
He added that the APC would not engage in electoral malpractice and urged voters to assess the party based on its record and the evidence presented during the campaign.
The PUNCH had reported that Omo-Agege, while flagging off his campaign in Uvwie Local Government Area on Friday, warned that anyone who attempted to rig the 2027 elections would face the consequences.
“It’s rig and die. Anybody who tries to rig the 2027 election will face the consequences. We will not allow anyone to steal our votes,” Omo-Agege said.
In response, Aniagwu called on political leaders to exercise restraint in their public statements, stressing that allegations of electoral malpractice should be reported to security agencies rather than addressed through violence or unlawful retaliation.
“Delta State is not a jungle republic. We must not encourage jungle justice or violence, regardless of political affiliation,” he said.
The committee chairman also said the APC would avoid personal attacks and name-calling, insisting that its campaign would centre on governance, policy proposals and the performance of the state and federal governments.
“We will not make name-calling or personal attacks the centre of our campaign. We intend to focus on the issues, present our record and explain what we believe our administration has achieved,” he said.
On the economic challenges facing Nigerians, Aniagwu acknowledged the pressure on households and businesses but maintained that some government policies required more time to produce their expected results.
“We will not ignore the economic challenges Nigerians are experiencing. We recognise the realities confronting households and businesses, but we will also explain the measures taken by the federal and state governments to address them,” he said.
He said the committee would highlight developments in road infrastructure, healthcare, education, housing and security, while explaining how federal policies had created opportunities for state governments to implement projects.
Aniagwu further called for accountability during political campaigns, arguing that political connections should not protect anyone from the consequences of unlawful conduct.

The committee’s position places the APC’s stated campaign strategy on governance and performance, while urging political actors in Delta State to maintain peaceful and lawful conduct as preparations for the 2027 elections gather pace.
