The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced the appointment in a statement issued on Tuesday, confirming that Hope Uzodimma will also serve as Director-General for party outreach, engagement and mobilisation.
The position places the Imo governor at the centre of the administration’s political messaging as the government seeks stronger grassroots alignment.
Bayo Onanuga stated that Hope Uzodimma, who chairs the Progressive Governors’ Forum, will work closely with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress and state governors to promote the Federal Government’s agenda and maintain strategic coordination within the ruling party.
He added that the governors will operate collectively as Ambassadors of Hope to reinforce the administration’s achievements across the country.
The appointment comes ahead of the rollout of the Ward Development Programme, a flagship initiative under the Renewed Hope agenda designed to deliver micro-projects, social services and livelihood support directly to Nigeria’s 8,809 electoral wards.
The Presidency described the programme as a step intended to bring governance closer to citizens at the community level.
The statement highlighted several indicators the government considers evidence of stabilisation, including a reported easing of inflation to 16.05 per cent in October and an increase in foreign reserves to more than 46 billion dollars.
It also cited rising investor interest and improvements in sectors such as oil and gas, solid minerals and the equities market.
The Presidency further pointed to reforms in student financing, noting that more than 700,000 students had enrolled under the liberalised loan scheme, and to claimed improvements in passport processing, which it said now require no longer than one week.
The administration said these developments underscored its progress as Nigeria continues adjusting to economic reforms.
President Bola Tinubu urged Hope Uzodimma to ensure that citizens understand the objectives and achievements of government policies, emphasising that effective communication will be critical as the Ward Development Programme begins.
