Osun APC confirms six-month LG allocations received, but PDP and NULGE allege illegal payments and demand full disclosure of accounts and signatories
A fresh political storm has erupted in Osun State as the All Progressives Congress (APC) confirmed the release of six months’ worth of withheld federal allocations to the state’s local government areas, while the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) allege fraud and demand full transparency.

The APC confirmed that allocations covering March to August 2025 were released by the Federal Government.
However, it denied reports that the funds were deposited into private accounts of its court-sacked local government chairmen, insisting instead that the money was paid directly into council accounts.
“It is not true that the said federal allocations are paid into the account of any of our local government council chairmen or any APC member,” said APC spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, in a statement on Sunday.
But the PDP, currently in power in the state, has demanded proof, asking the APC to publicly disclose the specific accounts the allocations were paid into, along with the signatories.
Raising the alarm, NULGE Chairman Dr Nathaniel Ogungbangbe accused top federal officials — including Minister of Finance Wale Edun, Accountant-General Babatunde Ogunjimi, and Attorney-General Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) — of abusing their offices by facilitating the release of funds into “illegally opened accounts” operated by ousted APC council members.
“This is unbelievable, bizarre, and unprecedented in the history of Nigerian public administration,” Ogungbangbe said.
“We have it on good authority that allocations for March to August 2025 have been released into private accounts opened by court-sacked chairmen.”
NULGE referenced a Federal High Court order issued on 15 May 2025, directing all parties to maintain status quo — an order initially acknowledged by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), which had withheld disbursement until now.
In a strongly worded response, Osun PDP Chairman Sunday Bisi accused the APC of attempting to destabilise the state and described the disbursement as a crime against the people.
“We demand full disclosure: into which accounts were the allocations paid, and who are the signatories? These are public funds,” Bisi declared.
According to the PDP, neither the state’s Accountant-General, Auditor-General for Local Governments, nor the Ministry of Local Government is aware of the funds or the supposed bank accounts in question.
“We will conclude that the APC has staged the greatest heist in Nigeria’s history by diverting over six months of allocations,” the PDP warned.
The APC insists that a Court of Appeal ruling on 10 February 2025 reinstated its chairmen, and no further appeal has nullified that decision. The party also argued that NULGE has no legal authority to interpret court rulings.
“The NULGE leadership is acting as an appendage of Governor Ademola Adeleke and peddling lies to favour the ruling PDP,” said Olabisi.
The party called on security agencies to remain alert and prevent any attempt by the opposition to incite unrest.
As council staff remain locked out of payment systems and council operations stall, NULGE has vowed not to return to work until the issue is fully resolved.

Observers warn that the unfolding situation could affect basic service delivery across the state’s 30 local government areas, with the potential for prolonged legal and political battles.
