Radda backs Tinubu for re-election, saying Katsina State and its APC structure will support the president ahead of the 2027 elections
Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda on Sunday, September 6, 2026, declared the state’s firm support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid and the All Progressives Congress ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.

Radda made the declaration in Katsina, where he assured Tinubu that the state would maintain its political allegiance to the president and the ruling APC.
“Katsina State is an APC state. Every elected person in Katsina State is a member of the All Progressives Congress, and I want to assure you that Katsina State has a special attachment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Radda said.
The governor added that the state’s support for Tinubu would continue into the next election cycle.
“Katsina State will continue to stand with you. We will support you, and our people will support you, Insha Allah,” he said.
Radda’s declaration places Katsina among the states where the APC’s political machinery is already being mobilised ahead of the 2027 contest.
The governor said the party maintains a strong structure across all 34 local government areas and 361 wards in the state, giving the APC a broad grassroots network ahead of the election.
He also credited Tinubu’s administration with reforms that he said had improved the financial resources available to state and local governments.
According to Radda, the increased resources have created greater opportunities for governments at the sub-national level to invest in infrastructure and social services.
The governor’s comments come as political activity gradually intensifies ahead of the 2027 general elections, with parties and political figures beginning to position themselves for what is expected to be a closely contested national campaign.
Radda also called on political actors to engage citizens constructively as the country moves towards the elections.
His appeal for constructive engagement comes against the backdrop of growing political debate across the country over the performance of the Tinubu administration, the economy, security and the direction of Nigeria ahead of 2027.
For the APC in Katsina, however, Radda’s declaration signals a clear intention to consolidate the party’s position and maintain the state’s support for Tinubu.

The governor’s endorsement also comes with the weight of Katsina’s established importance in northern Nigerian politics, making the state’s political direction a significant factor in the broader electoral calculations ahead of 2027.
