Bala Mohammed backs Makinde for 2027, urging Nigerians not to underrate the APM candidate as the party promises to reset Nigeria
Bauchi State Governor and Allied Peoples Movement, APM, National Leader Bala Mohammed on Monday urged Nigerians not to underrate Oyo State Governor and APM presidential candidate Seyi Makinde ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Mohammed made the remarks in Abuja during the inauguration of the APM presidential campaign office, where he presented Makinde as a strong contender capable of delivering what he described as a reset for Nigeria.
The Bauchi governor said the party’s choice of Makinde reflected its determination to present credible leadership as Nigerians prepare for another closely watched presidential election.
“The beauty of having a good party is to have a good leader,” Mohammed said, while praising the leadership structure of the APM.
He described Makinde as one of the country’s strongest examples of effective governance, pointing to his record as governor of Oyo State.
“I don’t want Nigerians to underrate him, especially the candidates and they would see the wonders of the world,” Mohammed said.
The APM national leader portrayed Makinde as a capable mobiliser and manager of resources, highlighting what he described as the governor’s ability to achieve significant results with limited resources.
“He is a mobilizer, a manager of resources, an engineer per excellence,” Mohammed said.
Mohammed also credited Makinde with transforming areas of Oyo State that he said had previously suffered neglect and abandonment.
“Somebody who used little resources and did so much. Where there was abject neglect and abandonment in Oyo State, he brought urban renewal to a level that nobody has ever done it,” he said.
The comments come as political parties and their leading figures intensify preparations for the 2027 elections, with the contest expected to draw prominent politicians and competing political alliances.
For the APM, the campaign office inauguration represents an early step towards building the organisational structure needed to take Makinde’s presidential bid to voters across the country.
Mohammed said the party was serious about its ambitions, arguing that the presence of a dedicated campaign structure should demonstrate the scale of its plans.
The governor’s endorsement adds political weight to Makinde’s candidacy, particularly as the APM seeks to distinguish itself from the established political parties ahead of the 2027 contest.
With the election still ahead, the challenge for the APM will be to translate the enthusiasm surrounding its candidate into a broad national coalition and sustained grassroots support.

For now, Mohammed’s message is clear: he believes voters and rival political camps would be taking a risk by dismissing Makinde’s presidential ambition too early.
