The directive follows a series of security breaches in the area, including recent attacks on churches and the recovery of a large cache of arms and ammunition by state security operatives.
A notice issued by Rev. Kayode Osatuyi, Coordinator of CAN in Kabba/Bunu, said the decision was reached during a meeting at the monarch’s palace with traditional rulers and church leaders.
“Following the directive from the Obaro of Kabba and Chairman Kabba/Bunu Traditional Council, all church services are suspended until further notice upon credible security reports on attacks by bandits,” the notice read.
Osatuyi added that the suspension was issued after consultation with the state leadership of CAN, urging all churches in the area to comply for public safety.
He also called for continuous prayers for peace in Kabba/Bunu, assuring that churches would be informed once it was safe to resume activities.
The directive comes after a series of violent incidents, including last month’s attack on a Cherubim and Seraphim Church and a Sunday assault on the Evangelical Church Winning All in Kiri, where two worshippers were reportedly killed and about 20 abducted.
