Monday Okpebholo Distributes Motorbikes to Boost Edo Security

Monday Okpebholo motorbikes initiative boosts Edo State security as 300 bikes are deployed to aid law enforcement in remote areas

In a bold move to enhance public safety, Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has distributed 300 rugged motorbikes to security agencies across the state.

This strategic deployment is designed to curb criminal activity, particularly in forest regions and hard-to-reach terrains.

The initiative, unveiled on Tuesday at the Government House in Benin City, brought together key security and government figures, including Commissioner of Police Monday Agbonika, Commander of the 4 Brigade Nigerian Army Brig. Gen. Ebenezer Oduyebo, and Chief of Staff Alhaji Gani Audu.

“We promised our people during the campaign that we would fight insecurity and restore peace. Today, we are fulfilling that promise.”

He emphasized that the motorbikes will serve as tactical assets, enabling operatives to penetrate deep forest zones where criminal elements often operate.

The governor added that this was only one part of a comprehensive security overhaul, including tech-driven tools and ongoing support for law enforcement.

“Criminals must leave Edo State,” he warned. “These motorbikes, along with other tools, will make it very difficult for them to operate.”

CP Monday Agbonika described the deployment as a “new dawn” in the fight against crime.

He highlighted the challenge of accessing remote areas and praised the governor’s proactive leadership in addressing that gap.

“With these motorbikes, we can go where vehicles can’t,” he said. “The days of impunity are over.”

He also urged the public to play a role in security, by providing credible information to support ongoing operations.

The motorbike rollout comes in the wake of heightened security concerns, notably the lynching of 16 Fulani hunters in Uromi, a tragic event that shocked the nation.

In that incident, the victims were attacked after local security forces discovered dane guns in the vehicle they were traveling in.

The event prompted President Bola Tinubu to order a full investigation, with several governors also demanding justice.

With this motorbike distribution, Monday Okpebholo is sending a clear and powerful message—security is a top priority, and criminals will find no safe haven in Edo State.
