Leaders and stakeholders, including governors, former ministers, and party stalwarts such as Chief Bode George and Prof. Jerry Gana, gathered to deliberate key issues.
Among the top agenda items were the report of the National Zoning Committee and the upcoming national convention scheduled for November 15–16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The atmosphere was lively, with members singing and cheering as prominent figures arrived, signaling a renewed commitment to repositioning the party for future electoral success.
“Today’s meeting reflects the PDP’s shared vision and determination to deliver for Nigerians in 2027,” the party stated in a release.
The National Zoning Committee, chaired by Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, aims to fairly distribute the 19 National Working Committee positions between the North and South.
Recent resolutions at the South PDP stakeholders’ meeting allocated key positions such as Deputy National Chairman and National Publicity Secretary to the South-South, while other roles were assigned to the South-West and South-East regions.
With the support of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, the National Secretary role was micro-zoned to Oyo, and Akwa Ibom secured the Publicity Secretary slot.
The current acting NWC tenure, led by Ambassador Umar Damagum, will expire in December.
