APC NEC leadership transition gains urgency as party relocates key meeting to Presidential Villa to ratify new chairman after Ganduje’s resignation
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has shifted its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting from the party’s secretariat in Wuse 2, Abuja, to the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa.

The meeting, scheduled for Thursday, was relocated for logistical reasons, according to the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.
A major item on the agenda is the nomination and ratification of a new national chairman following the resignation of Dr Abdullahi Ganduje on 27 June.
His departure, reportedly due to health concerns, cleared the way for Abubakar Dalori to take over in an acting capacity.
The NEC meeting is seen as critical for the APC as it addresses internal challenges and plans its future direction.
Party stakeholders are expected to finalise leadership decisions and discuss broader strategies to maintain the APC’s dominance on the political landscape.
“The leadership transition is vital to ensuring party stability and readiness for future elections,” said one observer.
The change in venue to the Presidential Villa underscores the importance of the meeting and hints at the involvement of high-level political figures.
Analysts believe this could allow for wider consultations aimed at aligning the APC’s leadership with national priorities.
