Initially set to conclude his tenure in August 2025, Adeniyi now has an extra year to consolidate ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Customs Service.
According to a statement from the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the extension aligns with Tinubu’s administration’s vision to modernise and strengthen national trade and security structures.
The key initiatives Adeniyi is expected to push forward include the digital-driven National Single Window Project, enhanced border security, revenue generation, and Nigeria’s compliance with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) protocols.
“President Tinubu recognises Mr. Adeniyi’s steadfast leadership and commitment to service,” the statement said.
“This extension will further strengthen the Nigeria Customs Service in achieving its strategic mandate.”
Appointed substantively in October 2023 after serving in an acting capacity from June that year, Adeniyi replaced former CG Hameed Ali.
