Progressive Governors Forum leadership dispute emerges as reports claim Peter Mbah was named chairman, while officials deny any leadership change
A reported leadership shake-up within the Progressive Governors Forum has sparked confusion after claims emerged that Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, was named chairman of the influential political bloc during a late-night meeting in Abuja.

The alleged decision followed reports of the removal of Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, as chairman of the forum, intensifying speculation over internal tensions within the Progressive Governors Forum leadership structure.
According to reports, about 20 governors under the All Progressives Congress umbrella met on Thursday night at the Ogun State Government Lodge in Abuja, where discussions on leadership restructuring allegedly took place.
The meeting was said to have been attended by governors including Dapo Abiodun and Douye Diri, alongside other members of the forum.
However, the claims were swiftly countered by an official statement from the forum’s Director General, Folorunso Aluko, who dismissed the reports as false and misleading.
The statement insisted that no such leadership change occurred and maintained that Hope Uzodinma remains the legitimate chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum.
Despite the denial, a source familiar with the development maintained that the meeting did take place, further deepening uncertainty over the alleged Progressive Governors Forum leadership dispute.
