The development was made public on May 10, 2026, through a post on Kusada’s official social media page, drawing immediate political reactions within Katsina’s political circles.
Kusada, a former colleague of the lawmaker in the Katsina State House of Assembly, described Sani Lawal as a close friend and long-time political associate, noting that their relationship dates back to their joint election in 2015.
He referred to the federal lawmaker as a dedicated and focused parliamentarian whose contributions would be missed within the ruling party.
According to Kusada, the APC would feel the impact of Lawal’s departure, given his role in legislative activities and constituency representation.
The former committee chairman also wished him success in his future political endeavours, although he did not disclose the party the lawmaker may be joining.
Political observers have linked the reported resignation to internal disagreements within the APC, particularly around the party’s consensus arrangements and issues relating to return tickets ahead of future elections.
The development adds to ongoing conversations about internal party dynamics and rising tensions within political structures as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.
