Prince Onukwue of ZLP elected Abia IPAC chairman for 2026–2028, pledging support for progressive policies and objective government oversight
Prince Onukwue of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) has been elected as the new State Chairman of the Abia State chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) for the 2026–2028 tenure.

The election took place at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Umuahia, marking a transition from former chairman Nelson Uluocha of the Young Progressives Party (YPP).
Seventeen out of 19 chairmen of registered political parties participated in the keenly contested electoral process, which was supervised by IPAC National representatives in collaboration with INEC officials.
Other elected officers include Mrs Victoria Akabuike of the Boot Party as Deputy Chairman, and Larry Charles of the Action Peoples Party as State Secretary, among others.
The newly elected executives were sworn in immediately after the conclusion of the vote.
In his acceptance speech, Onukwue expressed gratitude to his colleagues for the confidence reposed in him.
He pledged that IPAC would support progressive policies in the state while also objectively critiquing the Abia State government where necessary.

Zenith Labour Party had a strong showing in Abia’s local government elections on November 2, 2024, further consolidating its political influence in the state.
