The affected officials include Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, former Minister of Communications Barrister Adebayo Shittu, and former Oyo State Deputy Governor Rauf Olaniyan. All three are reportedly eyeing the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State.
The planned resignations follow an earlier directive from the Presidency instructing political appointees intending to contest elective positions in 2027 to vacate office before the end of March.
The policy was communicated by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
According to reports, the trio have not formally resigned as of the time of filing this report, but are expected to comply with the directive in the coming days as they prepare to pursue their political ambitions.
Adelabu, who previously served in the Central Bank of Nigeria before his ministerial appointment in 2023, is regarded as a key contender in the Oyo gubernatorial race.
Shittu and Olaniyan also bring prior federal and state-level experience, positioning them as notable aspirants within the APC structure.
