The former Adamawa State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bindow, registered as a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over the weekend in Mubi North Local Government Area, where he also picked up his membership card.
Bindow, who governed from 2015 to 2019 and served as a senator from 2011 to 2015, confirmed the switch through social media updates on Sunday.
His defection is seen as a major win for the ADC, which is rapidly gaining traction in Adamawa State.
Bindow is expected to play a pivotal role in the party’s political mobilisation efforts, especially in Northern Nigeria.
Notably, he joins other high-profile defectors including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Senator Aisha Binani, the APC’s 2023 gubernatorial candidate in Adamawa.
