Davido hits back at Okpebholo after Adeleke mockery

Davido hits back at Okpebholo after the Edo governor mocked Ademola Adeleke’s dancing at public events, sparking an online exchange

Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, responded to Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo on August 7, 2026, after the governor criticised his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, over his public dancing appearances.

The music star reacted by sharing what appeared to be Governor Okpebholo’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) result on his Instagram Story, shortly after a video of the governor’s remarks circulated online.

The post, which carried no caption from Davido, was widely interpreted by social media users as a response to Okpebholo’s comments about Adeleke’s leadership style.

During a political gathering, Governor Okpebholo mocked the Osun governor’s habit of dancing at public functions while urging residents to vote against him.

“Before somebody signs paper he will dance. Are you not tired? For four years this man has been dancing. Before he takes breakfast he will dance,” Okpebholo said.

The Edo governor also questioned Adeleke’s approach to governance, suggesting that his public appearances did not reflect the realities facing residents.

“Before he even enters the plane he will dance. Before he gets there, we have closed, so he won’t know what we are saying. He doesn’t even know the reality of today,” he added.

Okpebholo further advised voters not to be influenced by financial incentives during elections, urging them to consider their voting decisions carefully.

“If they bring money, chop that money from them but don’t vote for them,” he said.

Hours after the remarks gained attention online, Davido hits back at Okpebholo by uploading the alleged examination result on his verified Instagram account.

The document shared by the singer showed various grades, including D7 in Commerce, Christian Religious Knowledge, Economics and English Language, E8 in Government, and C5 in Mathematics.

Davido did not provide additional comments alongside the post, and Governor Okpebholo had not publicly responded to the singer’s action at the time of reporting.
