Olatunbosun Oyintiloye urges Nigerians to respect leaders

Olatunbosun Oyintiloye Nigeria Image Appeal warns against disparaging remarks on leadership, saying negative narratives affect global perception of the country.

Olatunbosun Oyintiloye Nigeria Image Appeal has sparked national attention as the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain from Osun State called on Nigerians to refrain from making disparaging remarks about the country and its leadership, especially on digital platforms.

In a public statement released over the weekend, Oyintiloye described ongoing political criticism—particularly targeting President Bola Tinubu—as unpatriotic, warning that such behaviour could have long-term repercussions on Nigeria’s global image.

“The way we portray our country and its leadership is a reflection of how our nationality is perceived internationally.

People should remember that the internet never forgets,” he said.

“At the appropriate time, negative remarks made today could have consequences tomorrow.”

The Olatunbosun Oyintiloye Nigeria Image Appeal underscores concerns within the ruling party about growing online and diaspora criticism of President Tinubu’s administration.

Oyintiloye urged citizens, especially opposition members, to rise above partisan politics and avoid what he termed “unguarded comments.”

According to him, damaging Nigeria’s reputation on the global stage serves no one and may, in fact, be fuelling cases of discrimination and humiliation against Nigerians living abroad.

He added that while the nation is not without its challenges, progress can only be achieved through unity, mutual respect, and constructive engagement—not by tearing down its image for political gain.

The Olatunbosun Oyintiloye Nigeria Image Appeal comes at a time when social media discourse on Nigeria’s economic and political state is becoming increasingly polarised.
