Osun APC alerts security agencies to an alleged LG secretariat invasion, urging police, DSS and NSCDC to prevent a possible breakdown of order
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has alerted security agencies to an alleged plan by purported Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) local government executives to invade council secretariats across the state on Thursday, September 3, 2026.

The allegation was contained in a statement signed by Kola Olabisi, Director of Media and Information of the Osun APC, who said the purported PDP chairmen and councillors were planning to take over the 30 local government council secretariats and the Area Office.
According to the APC, the alleged operation could involve political hoodlums recruited from within and outside Osun State.
“The alleged invasion was expected to be carried out with the assistance of political hoodlums allegedly recruited from within and outside Osun State,” the party said.
The APC further alleged that arrangements had been concluded to deploy the suspected groups to carry out the planned takeover.
The party linked the alleged development to the continuing dispute over the control and tenure of local government administrations in Osun, which has already generated significant political and legal tension.
The APC claimed that the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke had emboldened the purported PDP council executives to regroup and pursue the alleged takeover.
The party also accused officials of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) of being involved in the alleged plan, describing the union as willing collaborators with the state government.
The allegations have not been independently established, and neither the Osun State Government nor the state chapter of the PDP had responded to the claims as of the time of filing the report.
The APC urged the Osun State Police Command, Department of State Services (DSS) and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to take proactive measures to prevent any attempt to disrupt public order.
“There is no tact and diplomacy in a set of hoodlums teaming up to promote disruption of public peace in the state on a matter that is still very much alive in the Court of Appeal,” the party said.
The party also urged the purported PDP council chairmen to allow the judicial process to run its course rather than taking actions that could further escalate tensions.
“Any step that the aggrieved purported PDP local government council chairmen may take other than recourse to the court has no other name than a monumental illegality,” the APC stated.
The dispute has a troubled history, with the APC recalling the killing of one of its reinstated council chairmen, Honourable Remi Abass of Irewole Local Government Area.
According to the party, Abass was killed by suspected PDP thugs who are currently facing trial before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The APC said the wider dispute concerning the tenure of the reinstated APC local government executives remains before the Court of Appeal in Akure, Ondo State.
The party therefore called on security agencies to closely monitor the activities of the purported PDP council executives and NULGE officials if there is any indication of a breakdown of law and order.
The Osun APC’s warning comes against the backdrop of a prolonged struggle over local government administration in the state, with competing claims over the legitimacy and tenure of council officials.
The party maintained that the courts remain the appropriate avenue for resolving the dispute and urged all sides to avoid actions that could threaten public peace.
With the alleged takeover expected on Thursday, attention is now on the security agencies and whether the claims will translate into any actual attempt to occupy the council secretariats.

For now, the allegations remain claims by the Osun APC. The absence of a response from the PDP and the state government means key aspects of the allegation remain unanswered.
