Aisha Yesufu Defends Peter Obi’s Campaign Visibility

Aisha Yesufu defends Peter Obi’s campaign visibility, praising content creators documenting his activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election

Activist Aisha Yesufu has defended the growing online visibility of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi, saying some Nigerians are unhappy that his campaign team and content creators are documenting his activities.

Yesufu made the remarks in a post on X on Thursday, September 3, 2026, while praising content creators travelling with Obi and sharing footage of his campaign engagements and activities with the public.

The activist argued that some critics would prefer Obi to keep his work out of public view, as she said he did during his tenure as governor of Anambra State.

“May God bless all the ‘content creators’ putting in the work and travelling with our principal, Mr Peter Obi, @PeterObi, the incoming President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (Insha Allah), to document and show all the workings he does!” Yesufu wrote.

Yesufu suggested that some of those criticising the campaign’s online strategy were attempting to dismiss the material as artificial intelligence-generated content.

“Many are angered that they cannot say it is AI,” she said.

She contrasted Obi’s current approach with his time as Anambra governor, arguing that his administration did not place as much emphasis on publicly showcasing its activities.

“They want it to be like what he did in Anambra, where he was silent and didn’t showcase the work he was doing,” Yesufu wrote.

The comments come as political parties and presidential contenders increasingly use social media, video creators and other digital platforms to shape public narratives ahead of the 2027 general elections.

For Yesufu, documenting political activities is an important part of allowing voters to see what candidates are doing during their engagements rather than relying solely on conventional campaign messaging.

She also challenged critics to adopt a similar strategy if they believe their preferred candidates have comparable achievements to showcase.

“Una go see workings. If e pain una, make una carry una candidate waka round and use camera take document,” she said.

Yesufu concluded by commending the content creators involved in Obi’s campaign coverage, particularly one she addressed as “MamaPee”.

“Well done, @MamaPee. Great job,” she added.

Her comments add another layer to the increasingly digital nature of Nigeria’s 2027 political contest, where campaign visibility is being shaped not only by political parties and traditional media but also by supporters and independent content creators documenting candidates’ activities in real time.
