Adebutu Declares Bold 2027 Ogun Governorship Bid

The 2023 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Oladipupo Adebutu, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election, marking his third attempt at the state’s top office.

Adebutu made the declaration in a letter dated April 30, 2026, addressed to the leadership of the PDP in Ogun State and made available to journalists on Friday through his media aide, Afolabi Orekoya.

The letter was directed to the Ogun State PDP Chairman, Abayomi Tella, through the party structure in Odogbolu Local Government Area.

In the correspondence, Adebutu stated his intention to seek the party’s nomination for the governorship seat in the 2027 general elections.

He affirmed his loyalty to the party and pledged to abide by its constitution and internal processes throughout the political journey.

Adebutu described his decision as driven by a desire to provide leadership and build on his past political experience.

The former lawmaker, who represented Remo Federal Constituency, said he remains committed to serving the party and the people of Ogun State.

He also urged party members to remain united as preparations begin for the next electoral cycle.

Adebutu further expressed willingness to work with all factions within the PDP to secure victory in 2027.

The latest declaration comes after previous attempts in 2019 and 2023, where he also emerged as the party’s governorship candidate.
