APC in Lagos warns opposition coalition is unstable, citing ego clashes and deep divisions undermining efforts against Tinubu’s re-election
The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Lagos State has warned that moves by opposition parties to form a coalition against President Bola Tinubu’s re-election are on the verge of collapse.

The warning was issued by the party’s spokesman, Seye Oladejo, in a statement on Friday.
Oladejo said the coalition talks were undermined by competing personal ambitions and a lack of cohesion.
He described the arrangement as “unstable and driven mainly by power struggle.”
“What is being marketed as a coalition is, in reality, a congregation of serial presidential aspirants, each unwilling to subordinate ego to collective purpose,” Oladejo said.
The APC spokesman added that the opposition grouping lacked “ideological glue, moral cohesion, or a shared vision for Nigeria beyond a desperate fixation on power.”
He maintained that coalitions rely on compromise, while this one “suffocates under entitlement.”
Oladejo further highlighted public ultimatums and pre-conditions among opposition leaders, arguing that demands for guaranteed presidential or vice-presidential tickets had replaced consensus-building.
He also noted that appeals urging supporters to cease attacking one another were evidence of worsening internal hostility, describing the coalition as a “fragile contraption wobbling under the weight of personal ambitions, mutual distrust, and irreconcilable contradictions.”

The statement reflects APC’s efforts to portray the opposition as disunited ahead of upcoming elections and to consolidate support for Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
