Ondo PDP crisis deepens as Ayo Fadaka resigns

Ayo Fadaka resigns as Ondo PDP publicity secretary, citing internal conflicts and alleged self-serving leaders within the opposition party

The leadership crisis within the Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deepened on Thursday following the resignation of the party’s former Publicity Secretary, Ayo Fadaka.

Fadaka, who served as the party spokesman in the state, submitted his resignation in a letter to the chairman of Ward 8, Oke Aro, in Akure South Local Government Area, copies of which were also addressed to the state chairman and the National Vice Chairman (South-West) of the PDP.

“I am writing to notify you of my decision to resign from the Peoples Democratic Party forthwith,” he stated, describing his decision as necessitated by persistent internal crises that threaten the survival of the party.

In his resignation letter, Ayo Fadaka accused certain party leaders of lacking integrity and using the PDP for personal gain. He said the party had become “a victim of ill-bred individuals who unfortunately rose to very lofty heights through it and eventually turned around to stab it mercilessly.”

Fadaka further criticised what he described as “a thriving group of rent-seeking and privilege-taking individuals, to whom the party remains a meal ticket,” adding that these leaders were “ever ready, without conscience, to compromise its interests.”

He explained that under the prevailing circumstances, his commitment to the party was no longer sustainable.

“In view of the above, I have since realised that my seemingly irrevocable commitment to the party can, after all, be revoked. Therefore, my membership in the PDP is hereby terminated. I wish the party well,” he said.
