APC Nasarawa Wadada Tinubu endorsement row as chieftains reject claims of presidential backing ahead of 2027 governorship election
Two All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains in Nasarawa State, Zamani Daniel and Ibrahim Tukur, have criticised governorship aspirant Senator Ahmed Wadada over claims that he enjoys the backing of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.

Political clash in Nasarawa APC over Wadada’s Tinubu support claim controversy intensified after the party leaders issued a statement on Wednesday warning against what they described as attempts to intimidate other aspirants through alleged presidential support.
They insisted that political ambition should be tested through open competition rather than perceived proximity to the presidency.
According to the chieftains, the adoption of direct primaries by party stakeholders means aspirants must rely on popularity and grassroots acceptance rather than endorsements from powerful figures.
They stressed that democracy is fundamentally driven by numbers and public support, adding that voters should be allowed to freely determine who represents them.
The APC chieftains further argued that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is known for respecting democratic principles and would not interfere in the selection of candidates.
They expressed concern over claims that the President would “hand-pick” candidates, describing such assertions as misleading and capable of causing internal division within the party.
The statement emphasised that aspirants must focus on engaging party members and the electorate instead of relying on external influence to secure nominations.
