Rotimi Amaechi revisited the Amaechi Tinubu APC primary 2022 contest, which saw him challenge Tinubu for the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the general election.
Amaechi stated that he did not accept the outcome of the primary on the day it was announced, arguing that political leadership must reflect balance across religious and regional interests within the country.
He suggested that governance in a diverse society such as Nigeria requires deliberate efforts to ensure inclusivity, insisting that no group should feel excluded from national representation.
According to him, the current administration does not adequately reflect this principle of balance, adding that all regions and religious groups must feel a sense of belonging within the Nigerian state.
The former Minister of Transportation emphasised that political stability depends on fairness and inclusivity, warning that exclusion could deepen divisions in an already diverse nation.
President Bola Tinubu won the 2022 APC presidential primary before contesting and winning the general election on a joint same-faith ticket with his vice president.
