The high-level meeting in Abuja brought together key political figures, including former Governors Liyel Imoke (Cross River), Aminu Waziri Tambuwal (Sokoto), and Senator Tunde Ogbeha.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, the party’s interim spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi, reaffirmed the leadership’s commitment to inclusivity.
He stressed that the gathering aimed to dispel rumours suggesting the interim team intended to sideline existing party members.
“We have invited all the state chairmen… to reassure them that we don’t have any intention to push them away,” Abdullahi said.
“The purpose is to dispel all kinds of falsehood and rumours… that we have come to take over this party from them.”
All 37 state chairmen, including that of the FCT, were in attendance and reportedly left more confident about their roles within the evolving party structure.
Responding to criticism from 2023 ADC presidential candidate Dumebi Kachikwu, who questioned the legitimacy of the interim coalition, Abdullahi stated firmly:
“A presidential candidate is not an officer of the party… We are on solid legal ground.”
He further added that no official complaints had been raised by ADC members regarding the legality or structure of the interim leadership, indicating a unified front.
