Represented by former Benue Governor Gabriel Suswan, Mark delivered his message on Wednesday at the unveiling of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Makurdi, where the party’s interim leadership was inaugurated.
The acting national chairman of ADC assured members that the party belongs to all Nigerians, regardless of their status or background.
“There will be no discrimination or short-changing of anyone,” Mark said in the message. “Everyone will be treated equally, regardless of who they are.”
He emphasised that the ADC is not built around a personality cult but is structured to give power back to the people.
He encouraged members to identify and nominate leaders from across all communities.
“The party is for the people, not for one person. We want the people to take ownership of the party, which is why we encourage you to consult and nominate potential leaders,” he added.
Mark made it clear that the selection of leaders must reflect the diversity of society.
He highlighted the inclusion of dedicated leaders for women, persons with disabilities, and other key groups.
He also announced a seven-member interim committee to manage party activities for 30 days, beginning 9 July.
The team is chaired by Terngu Tsegba, a former member of the House of Representatives.
Other members include Samson Okwu (in charge of security), Stephen Ayua (publicity secretary), Elizabeth Alagh, Cletus Tyokyaa, Abeji Egwa, and Atoo Agber.
The party is for the people, not for one person, we want the people to take ownership of the party.
The team will focus on member registration and preparation for permanent leadership.
Speaking at the event, Tsegba reaffirmed the party’s mission to promote good governance and restore transparency in the state’s political culture.
“The ADC will govern this state with the fear of God; we will adhere to the constitution,” Tsegba said. “We will provide good governance and ensure your security.”
He added that the ADC will work towards the safe return of all internally displaced persons and pledged to implement true local government autonomy.
“Our ADC government will ensure that all local governments receive their subventions directly into their accounts,” he said.
He also made a strong case for youth employment and equitable governance.
“This is a new era. For all our youth, especially those of you without jobs, the ADC is your solution,” he said.
“Our government will not be sectional. We will ensure the equitable distribution of offices throughout the state.”
Tsegba further promised that the party’s policies would be inclusive of all ethnic, religious, and economic groups.
“ADC will treat everyone as a stakeholder in this state—whether you are rich or poor, young or old, or from any tribe, we will treat everyone equally,” he said.
Also speaking at the event, David Olofu, a representative of the Benue South Senatorial District, declared the zone’s full endorsement of the ADC.
He assured that the district is prepared to contest the 2027 general election under the party’s banner.
He described the movement as a “breath of fresh air” for those disillusioned with the state’s current political landscape.
