Jibrin, who represents the Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, told State House correspondents after a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu that “everything is open,” regarding his political future.
“I do not think it is time for that conversation, but it’s a possibility,” he said.
“The most important thing is the stability and unity of the country.”
The meeting, held at the Presidential Villa, comes amid growing political friction between Tinubu’s administration and NNPP leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso. Jibrin downplayed the visit’s significance, citing Tinubu’s long-standing relationship with Kwankwaso.
“I don’t think it’s anything surprising to see me here…to discuss national issues in the interest of the people,” he said.
Kwankwaso, also a recent visitor to the Villa, had drawn headlines after accusing Tinubu’s administration of neglecting Northern Nigeria in infrastructure development.
The Presidency swiftly countered, listing multiple Northern projects.
When asked whether his visit was a peace mission, Jibrin acknowledged recent tensions but maintained that both leaders were committed to Nigeria’s prosperity.
“They’re both experienced politicians,” he said. “They know what’s best for Nigeria.”
A former Appropriations Committee Chairman and one of NNPP’s most visible figures in Kano’s 2023 electoral sweep, Jibrin’s potential return to the APC could reshape political dynamics ahead of 2027.
He urged Nigerians to assess the administration fairly.
