President Tinubu asks Senate to screen and confirm newly appointed service chiefs, including heads of defence, army, navy, air force, and intelligence.
President Bola Tinubu has formally requested the Senate to screen and confirm the newly appointed service chiefs.

The request was contained in a letter read on the Senate floor on Tuesday by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
According to the letter, the nominees are:
- General Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Defence Staff
- Major-General Waheedi Shaibu, Chief of Army Staff
- Rear Admiral Idi Abbas, Chief of Naval Staff
- Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke, Chief of Air Staff
- Major-General Emmanuel Undiendeye, Chief of Defence Intelligence
Following the reading, Akpabio referred the nominees to the Committee of the Whole for screening and confirmation, scheduled for next week.
The confirmation process follows President Tinubu’s closed-door meeting with the newly appointed service chiefs on Monday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The appointments come as part of the administration’s broader effort to restructure national security leadership and strengthen coordination across defence and intelligence agencies.
