Julius Abure-led Labour Party faction alleges violent takeover of party secretariat by Nenadi Usman camp, raising concerns about democracy
The Julius Abure-led faction of the Labour Party has accused Interim National Chairman Nenadi Usman and her supporters of forcefully breaking into the party’s National Secretariat and seizing valuables.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, claimed Usman and her cohort barred staff from entering the premises and replaced party billboards with those of the Nenadi Usman-led camp.
“The Abure-led leadership is dumbfounded by the invasion of its secretariat by Nenadi’s camp, aided by Police in the early hours of Tuesday. Accompanied by Abia State Deputy Governor, Ikechukwu Emetu, Senator Usman ordered hoodlums to break into all offices and cart away files and other materials,” Ifoh said.
According to the statement, the incursion occurred around 1am and involved eight truckloads of police officers, ensuring that only members of the Nenadi Usman interim leadership had access to the Secretariat.
Ifoh further warned that such actions threaten democratic norms.
“We are calling on the Police, Department of State Security, the Office of the National Security Adviser, and other relevant agencies to take note of this unlawful invasion. If unchecked, this is a pointer that our democracy and its institutions are under threat,” he added.
The faction cited a Federal High Court judgment recognising Usman as Interim Chairman but noted that the party leadership has since obtained a Stay of Execution and filed an appeal.

Ifoh urged party members to remain vigilant while the leadership pursues justice through lawful channels.
