Valentine Ozigbo Explains Move from Labour to APC

Valentine Ozigbo leaves Labour Party and Peter Obi for APC, citing leadership concerns and a chance to make political impact

Valentine Ozigbo, former Labour Party governorship candidate, has explained his decision to end his political relationship with former presidential candidate Peter Obi and join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ozigbo said he became disillusioned with the Labour Party due to what he described as a lack of seriousness among some party members and how he was treated within Obi’s political circle.

“I don’t want to waste my time with unserious people. Even though I’m not a proponent of APC’s approaches, I’m better off fighting from the inside. Peter Obi lacks basic leadership traits. He threw me under the bus,” Ozigbo said.

The move to the ruling APC surprised many observers, given Ozigbo’s long-standing association with Obi and the Labour Party.

Despite joining the APC, Ozigbo clarified that he is not fully aligned with the party’s governance style and does not take pride in its past record.

However, he said his decision was strategic.

“Being part of the ruling party gives me a chance to work within the system and push for change from inside rather than remaining outside,” he added.
