A video circulating on Wednesday showed Tuggar signing official documents and receiving the nomination form from party officials at the APC national secretariat.
His move formally confirms his entry into the contest for Bauchi State’s top political office, following earlier indications of interest during a visit to the party’s state secretariat.
Tuggar said his decision is driven by a desire to contribute to the state’s development and encourage healthy competition within the ruling party.
He described his aspiration as part of a broader effort to advance governance and strengthen internal democracy in the APC.
The former minister resigned from his federal role in March 2026 in line with a directive requiring political office holders seeking elective positions to step aside.
He also pledged support for any candidate eventually chosen by the party, stressing unity and cooperation over internal conflict.
Tuggar outlined key areas of focus for his proposed administration, including job creation, security improvement, education reform, healthcare delivery, and economic diversification through agriculture and solid minerals.
